Give more.

“Always give a little more than you promise.”

I’m not sure where the original artwork or the quote itself came from, but it’s been circling around Pinterest for some time.

I think that in business, there are fewer GREAT ways to build a loyal customer base. It’s such a simple saying, but it speaks volumes to your commitment to service, your values, and your overall way of life. “Going the extra mile,” I’ve found, does help people trust you and can help in earning you some extra karma points. (If you believe in that kind of thing, I suppose.)

In my business, I spend most of my days striving to live by this rule, both to my WebOps and to our customers. At home, I think it’s a natural inclination for me to want to give more, do more, and be more for Grayson and Oscar. (See issues I’ve had with wanting to be all the things here.)

But at the end of the day, if you consistently strive to do better and give more, you naturally do better and get more. Agree? Disagree?

Where do you try to give a little more than you promise?
