The more I listen to Muddy Waters, I realize I’m listening to the original versions of my favorite Zeppelin songs, and that’s ok with me. I know a lot of people gave them crap for not using their own material, but I think they made it better.
Speaking of, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get Robert Plant’s symbol tattooed on the inside of my left ankle. Call me a fanboy, but I heart him the most and it’s a feather – fits in with the bird theme I’ll keep, yes? 😉
I found this website that offers free online spanish lessons. Kind of like Rosetta Stone but better, because it’s free. I’m actually timed with vocabulary, and I even have to get the accents right when I type the word out, or no points. And I need points.
My trip to San Francisco is finally/already here. I am beyond pumped because I’ve never been to California, plus I get to see Connie, Raj and their beloved kitties, and I haven’t seen them in 3 months or so. I’ve never flown alone (tragic, I know), so I’m a little worried about navigating the airports by myself, but I have to remind myself that I managed to get where I needed to go in Italy for 5 weeks and came home safe, so no big deal. Plus, the Atlanta airport is practically idiot-proof. AND, we’re going to see one of my favorite poets play harmonica in a band while I’m there, which 1.) is freaking sweet because I lurve the harmonica and 2.) because this is one of my favorite poets ever. Check her out – Kim Addonizio.
Zona Rosa meets this week and I actually have some writing to share for the first time in months. Nothing Faulkneresque; two poems and a short vignette. Rosemary also asked that I bring a copy of my stream-of-consciousness exorcise we completed at the workshop a few weeks ago.
Thanks to Oscar, I’ve had the Cartman version of Lady Gaga’s Pokerface stuck in my head. ALL. DAY. So now I’m going to share it with you.
