I have to wonder…

what’s the point?

Who am I writing for?

Who is my audience?

Do I even have an audience? My husband and my Mother, really. And they usually find out everything on my way home from work.

I started this blog back in May of 2007 in hopes of honing in on my writing skills. I was easily distracted. I wanted readership to come immediately. I couldn’t understand why my friends weren’t coming to see what I was up to, either.

I guess the truth is because they’re different, and that’s why I love them. They don’t read blogs. They don’t crave creativity in blog form like I do. So, I reached out to others. They helped me immensely, but the readers still hadn’t come. I got lazy. I was reading others’ blogs more than writing in my own, and that satisfied for a while. I was writing about the wedding. I wanted to try to be a writer on Weddingbee. I wanted it so badly. I was writing furiously like I thought I was supposed to, but was rejected because my blog wasn’t engaging enough. That kinda, well, sucked. After that I didn’t write much. I was more focused on the wedding itself, and with your Mom and fiancee and a few others as your only readers, everyone was hearing my excitement and concerns anyway.

So now I’m sitting here wondering why. I guess it boils down to, I love to write. Sometimes it’s not good. Sometimes it’s amazing.

In other news, I’m on my second frappuccino for the day. (I don’t want to hear it – I drink water plenty often to get this little treat.)
