Brain Scatters

Aug 15, 2008 | Leela, weddings

I got reprimanded today for having not posted in a while – that being said, I’m once again at a lull.

We ARE, however, getting many RSVP’s in, which feels great. We’ve gotten a steady number in the mail every day since sending them out last week. Like I said a few posts back, I guess now is when it’s really starting to get REAL. As in, no more “Oh, we still have four months to figure that out…” no, we have 7 weeks.

Leela got fixed last week, so she’s had a plastic cone around her neck for the last week. She didn’t realize until just a few days ago that she can chew on the cone, so now it’s nice and worn-in… She has to wear it for another full week but I’m doubtful that it’ll last that long. She took the surgery like a champ, though – barely whined and has been acting like she didn’t have her girlie bits taken out.

As a side note, I’m starting to shy away from Myspace. I don’t really know why – something inside me is getting a little holier-than-thou about it, and I find myself thinking, “Oh, that’s so 2003…” Like I even know what the hell I’m talking about. Anyway. Plus I think it’s just hilarious that both my parents are on both Facebook and Myspace. I was talking to a good friend today and said something in passing about how my Mom updated something, and he said, “Uhh, that’s like my worst nightmare.” But my parents are pretty cool, and have been for some time. I don’t really feel like I need to hide anything from them – in fact, I think I’m more myself around them sometimes than they’d like.

What else? I’m so proud of my friend Nadia. She started teaching a bunch of hormone-ridden 8th graders this week. Please, everyone, say a prayer for her. I’ve gone back and forth in my head about getting certified and teaching English myself, but I just don’t know if I have the patience for it. And, I don’t know if I’d gain the patience or if I’d just be that grumpy old lady who nobody wants.. “Dude, who’d you get for English? Mrs. Barton? Eww… Good luck man, I heard she hasn’t given an A in 10 years…” I don’t know, something like that. Anyway, back to the point – she’s gonna be a great teacher. Snaps for Nadia.

Oh, and I get to have my second dress fitting tomorrow – exciting! The first time I went, they measured me and pinned it up so they could chop four full inches off the bottom. Story of an elf bride, I suppose. I’m pretty excited, because I’ll take any excuse to wear the dress.

Until next week…
